That’s exactly what my Silversmithing Summer School in Charlestown is all about.
Over five relaxed, creative days by the Cornish coast, you’ll learn professional jewellery-making techniques, work with real sterling silver, and create pieces that reflect your own style. Whether you’re a complete beginner or ready to build on what you already know, this is your chance to dive in and make something truly special.

1. How to transform raw silver into beautiful jewellery
You’ll start with simple strips and sheets of sterling silver — and by the end of the week, you’ll have handcrafted rings, bangles, pendants, or earrings that shine with personality.
You’ll learn the traditional skills of sawing, filing, soldering, and polishing, discovering how to bring your designs to life with your own two hands.
Most students are amazed at what they can achieve in just a few days — even if they’ve never picked up a jeweller’s saw before.
2. Texturing, shaping and finishing techniques
We’ll explore different ways to give your jewellery character and texture — from hammered finishes and roller printing to stamping patterns into silver.
You’ll experiment, play, and find your own style while learning how to shape and form metal using professional tools.
Every piece you make becomes a reflection of you — no two are ever the same.
3. The art of soldering with confidence
The first time you light the torch can feel a bit nerve-wracking, but I promise you’ll quickly find your rhythm.
You’ll learn how to safely and confidently solder your pieces, joining silver seamlessly and creating strong, beautiful jewellery that lasts a lifetime.
There’s always a moment of pure joy when that first join flows perfectly — it’s magic every time.
4. How to polish your work to a professional shine
Polishing is where your hard work truly comes alive.
You’ll learn how to refine edges, smooth surfaces, and bring out that mirror-like gleam that makes silver so special.
The satisfaction of seeing your reflection in a piece you’ve made yourself never wears off!
5. The confidence to keep creating
More than anything, you’ll leave Summer School with a sense of confidence and calm — knowing you can make something real and lasting with your own hands.

Classes are small, friendly, and filled with laughter, tea, and biscuits (of course!).
The studio is in beautiful Charlestown, just a short stroll from the harbour — perfect for a walk or a swim after class.
